No one wants to pay more property taxes than necessary. Forida affords a generous homestead exemption and valuation cap for your primary residence. There are other available exemptions for living quarters addition, seniors with long-term limited income reduction, widow/widower, deployed service members, surviving spouse exemptions (miliary and first responder benefits), disabled veteran exemptions, and disabled person exemptions. There is even discussion about a possible blanket or more limited exemption for all seniors. Please check with your county’s Property Appraiser and save money.
